State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines invited Ms. Ye Baofen from the College of Science to lead the traditional handcraft knitting activity of Knitting Happiness on the morning of December 8th. This event was designed to promote the traditional Chinese handicraft culture, alleviate the research-related stress of graduate students, diversify and enrich the form and content of labor education, and enhance the practical skills of the students. Knitting Happiness was held in X7-108 Multifunctional Activity Room of Xuanwumen Campus. Associate professors Huang Xin and Wang Xinzhi from the New Drug Screening Center of State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines, along with Counselor Yamon Li and student representatives from the Xuanwumen Campus, assembled to engage in craft-making activities aimed at fostering friendship.

Ms. Ye first explained to the students and teachers the craftsmanship of the auspicious cloud pendant, the method of tying a diagonal roll knot, and the production process of pendant jewelry. Then she explained in detail the materials, skills and precautions required for weaving pendants, and played a carefully recorded teaching video to present the complete weaving process.

Teachers and students were very interested in picking their favorite jade threads and followed the instructions step by step to start weaving. Ms. Ye was patient and meticulous, guiding the teachers and students hand in hand with the challenges they encountered. Threading, winding, knotting,  all the students discussed with each other, or asked the teacher for advice. The room was full of laughter.

Every needle and thread is to knit beauty. This activity is to carry out labor education in a pleasant way. It is an initiative to implement traditional skills into the community. It also belongs to a series of activities named Teachers and Students as One Family Climb the Peak Hand in Hand by State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines, aiming to build rapport between teachers and students, and to promote the  development of community building, postgraduate ideological and political education and scientific research.
